SAIF U-19 Women’s Championship: Indian football team leaves for Dhaka

NS India The Under-19 women’s football team left for Dhaka on Wednesday, where they will take part in the SAFF Under-19 Women’s Championship, which is to be inaugurated against Sri Lanka on 13 December.

The team was training in Goa and head coach Alex Ambrose believes that the camp will help the girls adapt better. “We are training in Goa and the girls are adapting to all the conditions here,” Ambrose said ahead of the team’s departure on Wednesday.

“It is a tough time for everyone in the world and we got a chance to train and play, for which I am happy. We definitely want to do well and the federation is supporting us so that we can live up to a certain expectation.”

The U-19 team is a relatively new team with few players who have already joined the national team. Ambrose believes that playing in SAF tournaments will help girls understand the level of football played at international level.

“It is a new team and everyone is excited to play a good brand of football. Playing competitive teams will help them get used to and gain an understanding of international football. Players need to believe in themselves and play good football. needed,” Ambrose said.

“It will help girls prepare themselves to deal with difficult situations. There is always hope, but we are here to play good football. There is no pressure on the players at all. We want them to do well, enjoy football and have a good championship.”

India will play their second match against Bhutan on December 15, followed by Bangladesh (December 17) and Nepal (December 19) in a round-robin format. The top two teams will play each other in the final to be played on 22 December.
