To make Samak Khichdi, first wash it and keep it aside. Now put it in the cooker along with ghee, cumin seeds, star anise and cinnamon. Cook for a minute, then add curry leaves, peanuts and let it cook. Then add coriander paste and chilli.

When the masala is ready, add chopped potatoes, mackerel rice, salt as per taste, garam masala and curd to it. Cover it with water and let it cook for three whistles. serve hot!
