Inviting Azam, State Spokesperson of AIMIM Mohammad Farhani He has also sought time to meet Khan. Farhan told TOI on Sunday, “I have sent a three-page letter to Azam Khan, who is currently lodged in Sitapur jail, and has also sought time to meet him.”
Farhan has alleged in his letter that there are many such instances which highlight that Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party was not sympathetic towards Muslims and only considered them as vote bank.
He claimed that Akhilesh Yadav had used the Rampur MLA to garner the support of the Muslim community for the SP in the recent state assembly elections and when the issue of Leader of the Opposition was raised, Akhilesh never discussed Azam’s name. Didn’t.
In the letter, Farhan also accused the SP chief of continuously ignoring Azam Khan. He claimed that Khan went back to Sitapur jail after treatment, people from all over the country were coming to inquire about his well being but Yadav did not come to meet him even once.
He said that Azam Khan made a huge contribution to the SP but neither Akhilesh nor his father had any sympathy for him. He also claimed that neither Akhilesh nor Samajwadi Party will come forward to support Rampur MLA or Muslim community in future. Farhan claimed that AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has always raised his voice to get justice for Azam Khan.
He said the entire Muslim community now wanted to see the AIMIM chief and the Rampur MLA on one platform to give a befitting reply to the rival camp.
The invitation to Rampur MLA Khan is also being seen as AIMIM’s attempt to woo disgruntled Muslim leaders from the SP to strengthen its presence and hold in the state.
