Sitapur: Senior leader of Samajwadi Party Aajam Khan A day after the Supreme Court granted interim bail in a cheating case, there was a walkout from Sitapur Jail in Uttar Pradesh on Friday morning.

There are 88 cases registered against Azam Khan including land grabbing. With the Supreme Court granting him interim bail in a cheating case, Khan is now out on bail in all the cases he is facing.
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav welcomed Khan’s release.
“Warm welcome to senior SP leader and MLA Azam Khan is out on bail. With this decision of bail, the Supreme Court has set new standards of justice. He will surely be acquitted in all other false cases. Lies have moments, not centuries,” Yadav said in a tweet in Hindi.
Shivpal Singh Yadav posted pictures on Twitter with Khan outside the jail.
Jailor of Sitapur Jail RS Yadav said that the release order was received around 11 pm on Thursday and Khan was released on Friday around 8 am after following all the procedures.
Supreme Court bench headed by Justice L Nageswara RaoKhan to file for regular bail within two weeks and ask the trial court to decide on merits without being influenced by any observations of the top court.
The Uttar Pradesh government had earlier opposed Khan’s bail plea and termed him a “land grabber” and a “habitual offender”.
On May 17, the top court had reserved its order after hearing the parties. Earlier, it expressed displeasure over the delay in hearing Khan’s bail application, saying it was a mockery of justice.
After being released from jail in the morning, Khan reached the house of former Samajwadi Party MLA Anoop. Gupta before leaving for your native Rampur, Gupta was in constant touch with Khan since he was lodged in Sitapur Jail. During his 45-minute stay at Gupta’s house, Khan had breakfast and met his supporters and well-wishers who had come here from different places.
“I was instructed by my party chief Akhilesh Yadav to take care of Azam Khan, his wife and son on the day he came to Sitapur jail. Since my house is very close to the jail, it made me serve my party leader. On the instructions of my party chief,” Anoop Gupta told PTI.
“Azam Khan was very close to my father and the late Om Prakash Gupta, a four-time Samajwadi Party MLA. Also, I was not well and was discharged from the hospital a few days back. So, Azam Khan looked forward to seeing me. and inquired about my health. It was a general meeting and it had nothing to do with politics.”
Azam Khan was accompanied by his two sons Adeeb and Abdullah, party leader Ashu Malik and Bilhari MLA Mohammad Fahim. Gupta said that he had stuffed parathas with tea for breakfast.
Earlier, when Tanzeem Fatima and Abdullah Azam were released from Sitapur jail, they also went to Anoop Gupta’s house before leaving for Rampur.
Khan, considered to be the Muslim face of the Samajwadi Party, had come into the limelight after leaders of various political parties met him in jail. Shivpal Singh Yadav, who met Khan in jail last month, had hit out at his nephew Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party for not raising the issue of the jailed leader.
The PSP-L leader had said that he would soon take up the matter with the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Yogi Adityanath, Azam Khan’s camp had also expressed displeasure with the Samajwadi Party chief, claiming he was ignoring the jailed MLA and the Muslim community, though it voted for the party.
Azam Khan’s media in-charge Fasahat Ali Khan had accused Akhilesh Yadav of ignoring his ally and the Muslim community, sparking speculation of a rift in the Samajwadi Party.
Fasahat Ali Khan had alleged that Akhilesh Yadav met Azam Khan only once in jail and the party did not make any effort for his release in the last two-and-a-half years.
Speculations about Azam Khan’s displeasure with the Samajwadi Party leadership gained further momentum when party MLA and former Uttar Pradesh minister Ravidas MehrotraThose who had gone to meet him in jail were not allowed for the meeting.
But a day later, Azam Khan met Congress leader and spiritual guru Pramod Krishnam, who had gone to meet him in the district jail.
Amidst the growing rift, Shivpal Singh Yadav did not rule out forming a front with Azam Khan. When asked by a journalist about the possibilities of him and Khan forming a new front, Shivpal Singh remarked at an event in Farrukhabad that “after coming out of jail, a decision on this will be taken at the right time. ”
