The meeting was attended by SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, party leader Shivpal Singh Yadav, MP Jaya Bachchan and state unit chiefs of 20 states and several other leaders.

Speaking to ANI on Friday, party leader Kiranmoy Nanda said, “The preparations have been done. The meeting will be held under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav. The meeting will be held on March 18 and 19 and a rally with party workers will be held on March 17.

He said the Samajwadi Party would play a “big role” in “stopping” the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“Our main aim is the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. We have to stop BJP from returning to power and Samajwadi Party will have a big role in this. Uttar Pradesh is the largest state with 80 constituencies. Akhilesh Yadav is very confident that we will win most of the seats and BJP will not return to power.

Nanda further said that Akhilesh Yadav will deliver the concluding speech on March 20 and then address a press conference.

Significantly, the meeting of the National Executive of the Samajwadi Party is being held in Kolkata after a gap of 11 years. Last time the late SP chief and former UP CM Mulayam Singh Yadav presided over the meeting. (ANI)
