There’s a new entry in Samsung’s rapidly growing range of true wireless earphones, and it’s not the most expensive or advanced yet. Samsung Galaxy Buds 2, as its name suggests, is its successor Galaxy Buds And Galaxy Buds+, rather than a new flagship product in the company’s Galaxy Buds range. 11,999, there’s a lot here too, including premium features like active noise cancellation and support for the company’s scalable advanced Bluetooth codec.

Better fit and comfort in the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2
Samsung’s previous three true wireless headsets all had quite a different design, and the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 is the best of them all. The earphones have a proper in-canal fit, but the size of the earpieces means they fit snugly. In my experience, they provided good noise isolation without putting too much strain on my outer ears.
This improved design and the low weight of these earpieces fix some of the long-time comfort issues I’ve had with the Galaxy Buds Pro. Each earpiece weighs 5 grams, while the charging case weighs around 41 grams. There are a total of six microphones (three on each earpiece) that enable active noise cancellation and voice communication. The earphones are rated IPX2 for water resistance, which is a bit disappointing.
Although the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 is the successor to the Galaxy Buds and Buds+, the headset looks similar to the Galaxy Buds Pro, with a shiny exterior and a charging case that’s almost identical to the more expensive one. Pro Headset. The exterior of the earpiece is touch-sensitive for controls, which are customizable via the Galaxy Wearable app on Android smartphones.
There’s no app for iOS yet which is a bit disappointing, and there’s no Dolby Atmos support. Some of Samsung’s features like auto switch and support for Bixby will make the experience of Samsung smartphone users a little better.

In terms of features, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 is similar to the Galaxy Buds Pro, with active noise cancellation, customization via apps, and Qi wireless charging in addition to USB Type-C fast charging. For connectivity, the earphones use Bluetooth 5.2 with support for SBC, AAC and Scalable Bluetooth codecs. Each earpiece has dual dynamic drivers, a woofer and a tweeter.
The Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 works with the Galaxy Wearable app on Android smartphones. It can be used to control ANC and ambient sound modes, customize touch controls, adjust equalizer settings, and tweak some other features such as read aloud notifications. You can test the earbud fit, and choose whether to use the ambient sound mode during calls.
The controls are customizable, but the level of customization is a bit limited on the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2. A single tap plays or pauses your music, a double-tap skips to the next track, and a triple tap skips to the previous track – these functions can only be activated or deactivated; You cannot change the function itself. The touch-and-hold gesture switches between noise control modes by default, but can be set to activate the voice assistant or control the volume instead.
There’s also an experimental setting that, when enabled, lets you adjust volume by tapping on the sides of the earpiece, thus freeing up touch-and-hold gestures for a separate function. I didn’t really mind these limitations, and the controls were fairly easy to use during my time with the Galaxy Buds 2.
Coming to the earpiece, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2’s battery life isn’t as impressive as the Buds Pro’s, but the charging case is able to prop up the earpiece a bit more. I got about four hours of total listening time on the earpiece with ANC on, with the charging case managing to top them up three times, for a total battery life of about 16 hours per charge cycle. Although not exceptional, battery life is quite good compared to similarly priced competition.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2. good active noise cancellation, clean sound
11,999 in India, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 competes in the mid-range segment. That said, there’s a lot to like about these earphones for the price, including good active noise cancellation, support for scalable Bluetooth codecs, and fine tuning.
I used Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 as my . done with iphone 12 mini And OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition for most of this review, but I also tried it with a Samsung smartphone to test performance with the Scalable codec. While the latter provided a better listening experience, the AAC codec in use on other devices didn’t hold the earphones much back.
Listening to I Don’t Trust Myself by John Mayer on Apple Music, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 delivered a clean, relaxing sonic signature that blended well with all the different parts of the frequency range. From the soft rumble of bass guitar and drums to John Mayer’s distinctive soulful voice, the track sounded pleasant in every way. Even with volume at around 60 percent, the Galaxy Buds 2 is built to be an engaging and engaging listening experience.
Switching to faster and more bass-focused music, I listened to Fire by Ferry Corsten, though the bass wasn’t as tight and calculated oneplus buds pro, I like the more subtle grunt of the bottom end of the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2. It was gentle, but the vocals and highs sounded a bit more natural and accommodating, which is great in its own way.
The Samsung earphones aren’t quite as forward-looking and enthusiastic as competing options from OnePlus and Oppo, but more than make up for it with a soundstage and clean sound. I find a level of sophistication in these earphones that I haven’t heard of on a lot of options priced under Rs. 15,000, and this is better than what Samsung has offered with its previous products at this price.
Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 has USB Type-C fast charging and Qi wireless charging
Even with the AAC Bluetooth codec, the earphones sound great, making the Galaxy Buds 2 a fairly good pick, even if you don’t have a Samsung smartphone. App support for Android-only means that iOS users will have at least the widest feature set available, but the core experience remains good regardless of your source device.
If you have a compatible Samsung device, the Scalable Bluetooth codec produces slightly more detailed sound and a better soundstage, thanks to the codec’s improved data transfer capabilities. That’s why it’s definitely worth considering the Galaxy Buds 2 if you have a modern Samsung smartphone or tablet.
Much of the credit for the good overall experience on the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 goes to the active noise cancellation performance. The ANC on these earphones is practically as good as you’ll find on more expensive headsets like the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro and the like. Jabra Elite 85t, and is backed by excellent fit and passive noise isolation. The earphones did a good job of silencing the noise in my house, and even helped when walking down the street.
The noise cancellation was good enough even without music playing, and it made listening to music much easier and more enjoyable even at low volumes and in noisy environments. There’s only one intensity setting for ANC, and you can just turn it off or switch to hear-through mode. Although it is not as natural as airpods pro, the ambient sound mode provided a reasonably accurate listening experience that didn’t sound too loud.
Call quality on the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 was good indoors and in somewhat quieter outdoor environments, and can be set to activate hear-through mode during calls so you can hear your voice more clearly. Connection stability was never an issue with these earphones; I was able to use them without any trouble at distances up to about 3.5m.
Decision
Even though the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 isn’t the most premium and well-equipped pair of true wireless earphones in the company’s range, it’s still my pick when compared to the more expensive Galaxy Buds Pro. This is a good value-for-money proposition at Rs. 11,999, with comfortable design, good sound and very good active noise cancellation. It offers a largely simple and hassle-free approach to wireless listening.
The Galaxy Buds 2 is a bit more expensive than some of the best alternatives such as oneplus buds pro And Oppo Enco X, but is worth considering for its laid-back yet catchy sound. This especially makes sense if you have a Samsung smartphone, as it will unlock the potential of the scalable Bluetooth codec and further improve sound quality.
