NEW DELHI: The political crisis in Maharashtra entered the Supreme Court on Monday, which ordered status quo on the disqualification of the rebel MLAs till the next date of hearing on July 12.
A vacation bench of Justices Surya Kant and JB Pardiwala also refused to pass any interim order on a vigorous plea by senior advocate Devdutt Kamat, appearing for the MVA government, that there should be no floor test in the assembly in the meantime.

Hours after the hearing, the BJP core committee held a meeting at former CM Devendra Fadnavis’s house in Mumbai, sparking speculation that the fight could be taken to the floor of the assembly.
