Sanjeet murder case: High Court dismisses plea for CBI inquiry

The Kerala High Court on Thursday dismissed a writ petition seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the murder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh activist A. Sanjeeth in Palakkad.

Sanjeet, 27, was murdered on November 15, 2021, when he was taking his wife to her workplace.

The court dismissed the petition and said that the investigation of the matter is on. In fact, most of the accused, including the conspirators, were arrested. No vested interest was seen in the investigation conducted so far by the present Special Investigation Team. Therefore, there was no need for further investigation by any outside agency.

The court directed the state police chief to personally review the progress of the investigation and file a fortnightly report before the court till the arrest of the last accused.

The petition for a CBI probe into the murder was filed by Arshika S, wife of an RSS worker. She said that the perpetrators of her husband’s murder are still on the run and the police investigation is stalled. Despite the participation of activists of the Social Democratic Party of India and the Popular Front of India, none of them were arrested.

Opposing the plea, the police said that all the accused, including a PFI functionary, have been arrested and if a new agency takes over the investigation, it may delay the filing of the final report and the accused may walk out. . Bail.
