Vighnaraj Sankashti Chaturthi will be celebrated on 24 September. Chaturthi Tithi will start on 24th September at 08:29 am and will continue till 10:36 am on 25th September. On the day of Sankashti, the moon will rise at 08.20.

Vighnaraj Sankashti Chaturthi: Fasting Method

Devotees start their day with a holy bath and worship Lord Ganesha. They observe a one-day fast and consume only fruits and milk. They avoid the consumption of rice, wheat, pulses and can eat sattvik food like sabudana khichdi, potatoes and groundnuts during the fast. Devotees also meditate (meditate) for Lord Ganesha, and seek his blessings. They break their fast after sighting the moon.

Sankashti Chaturthi is an important day for Lord Ganesha devotees. Sankashti means salvation in times of distress, therefore, Lord Ganesha is worshiped as he is depicted as the remover of all obstacles. It is believed that observing this fast removes all the obstacles in one’s life.

Sankashti Chaturthi is also known as Ganesh Sankathara or Sankathara Chaturthi in Tamil Nadu. Worshiping Lord Ganesha brings health, wealth and prosperity to the devotees. It is celebrated in the northern and southern states of India as this fast is believed to fulfill all the wishes.
