Saraswati Puja 2021: Date, Significance, Shubh Muhurta and Worship Method during Navratri

Saraswati is known as the consort of Lord Brahma, the creator of this universe according to Hindu mythology.

It is believed that the goddess appears in the form of Saraswati on the last day of Navratri. This time Saraswati Puja will be celebrated on October 12.

Worship Method:

During Navratri Saraswati Puja, people worship in front of Saraswati idol or picture. As part of Navratri celebrations, there is a tradition of keeping or removing ‘kolu’ in homes. Kolu represents an exhibition of deities, animals, birds, spiritual personalities and miniature forms of artwork.

Saraswati is dressed in white sari and has a white swan as her ‘vehicle’. The preferred way of worshiping him is by using mostly white material.

Every day, a special puja is performed by offering ‘naivedya’ prepared from white garland, white flowers, white rangoli, white sesame, rice and coconut. Devotees worship in white dress. It is believed that the white lily is the favorite flower of the goddess.

During the three-day Saraswati Puja, students and children offer books, stationery items to the goddess. They take back the things with her blessings on the last day which is the ninth day of Navratri.

  • October 12, 11.27 am: Poorvashadha Nakshatra begins
  • October 13, 10.19 am: Purvashadha Nakshatra ends
  • Saraswati Aahan is on 11th October Monday
  • Saraswati Balidan will be seen on Wednesday 13 October
  • Saraswati Visarjan will be held on Thursday, October 14
