SBI issues warning to customers: ‘Beware of fraudulent customer care numbers’

State Bank of India (SBI) has issued a fresh advisory warning its customers to beware of fake customer care numbers. “Beware of fraudulent customer care numbers. Please visit the official website of SBI for correct customer care number. Refrain from sharing confidential banking information with anyone,” SBI said in a tweet.

SBI, in a video, has also suggested ways to its customers to keep their accounts safe from online fraudsters.

According to SBI, customers should not entertain calls from unverified numbers or callers posing as SBI customer care officers. SBI said that customers will have to visit the official website of the bank for the correct customer care number.

Earlier also SBI had alerted its customers about fake customer care numbers and fake calls.

SBI has the largest network of 22,230 branches and 64,122 ATMs/CDMs with 70,786 BC outlets in India. The number of customers using Internet Banking and Mobile Banking is 94.4 million and around 21 million respectively. Integrated Digital and Lifestyle Platform – YONO SBI has around 43 million registered users, with 12 million logins per day. Accelerating the digital agenda, over 27,000 new digital savings bank accounts were opened per day in the quarter ended September 2021. In the context of digital loans, the bank disbursed personal loans 43,000 crores through YONO mobile app till the second quarter of FY 2012.
