SEBI reconstitutes advisory committee to 20 members

SEBI has cut one member in its Market Data Advisory Committee. The market regulator has reconstituted its advisory committee to recommend appropriate policy for access to securities market data for both transaction and disclosure. Under the new changes, former NSE MD and CEO Vikram Limaye has been replaced by Ashishkumar Chauhan, the newly appointed head of the committee.

SEBIThe advisory committee will now have 20 members as against the previous 21 members.

MS Sahu, Professor at National Law University, Delhi and former Chairman of Insolvency and bankruptcy The Board of India (IBBI) will chair the advisory committee.

Chauhan, the new head of NSE, was earlier MD and CEO of rival exchange BSE.

According to a PTI report, BSE did not find a place in the panel as the post of MD and CEO of the exchange is lying vacant after Chauhan’s departure. It is in the process of appointing a new one and the new head of the exchange will get a place on the committee.

The members also include Dr. CKG Nair, Director, National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), PS Reddy, MD & CEO, MCX, Arun Rasthe, MD & CEO, NCDEX and Padmaja Chanduru, MD & CEO, NSDL.

Besides this, the other members of the panel are Nehal Vora, MD & CEO, CDSL; Anuj Kumar, Director and CEO, CAMS; Kfintech CEO and COO Shrikant Nadella; Dr. Subrata Sarkar Professor, Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR); Dhirendra Kumar, Founder-CEO of Value Research; Prithvi Haldia Founder-Chairman, Prime Database.

Additionally, Mahesh Vyas, MD, CMIE; Ranjit Pawar, Managing Director, South Asia Refinitiv; Raman Uberoi, Senior Advisor to Government and Regulatory Relations of CRISIL; Nitin Kamath, Founder and CEO, Zerodha Broking; Kiran Shetty CEO and Regional Head – India of South Asia, Swift India; Suhas Tuljapurkar, Managing Partner, Legis; Amarjit Singh, Executive Director, SEBI; and Prabhas Kumar Rath, General Manager, SEBI.

The committee is also responsible for identifying segment-wise data perimeters, data requirements and data gaps. In addition, the committee standardizes data definitions, data identification logic and data validation techniques. In addition, they standardize formats and documents – filings, reporting, forms, agreements, etc.
