Section 144 in force till January 10 in Lucknow due to upcoming festivals

News agency ANI has reported that the Uttar Pradesh government has imposed section 144 in the city of Lucknow till January 10, 2023, due to the upcoming festivals.

The state government’s order said, “Section 144 has been imposed in the city in view of some upcoming festivals and other events.”

According to the order, Christmas Day on 25.12.2022, Guru Govind Singh Jayanti on 29.12.2022 and various programs and festivals related to New Year 2023 will be organized on 31.12.2022 and 01.01.2023. Along with this, various entrance examinations will be conducted. People’s lives are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“There is a need to take special vigilance on the issued guidelines and programmes/festivals/festivals in view of Kovid-19. Presently, in view of the protests etc. by various party workers/Bharti Kisan organizations and various protestors and to maintain peace and order in the Commissionerate Lucknow, prohibitory orders under section 144 have been issued with effect from 10.12.2022.”

Apart from Noida, the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration had also implemented Section 144 till January 2, 2023 in view of upcoming festivals and important days.

According to Media Cell, Commissionerate of Police, Gautam Budh Nagar, “In view of upcoming festivals and important days, Section 144 will be implemented in Gautam Budh Nagar from 5/12/2022 to 2/1/2023. The restrictions will not apply to emergency services and on-duty policemen or paramilitary forces.”

As per Wion News report, Section 144 has been imposed in Mumbai till January 2 to ensure public order and peace. Earlier on 3 December the mumbai police Said that the rumors of curfew being imposed in the city from December 3 to 17 are false. The police had appealed to the people not to panic.

In a video message, Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Vishwas Nangre Patil said, “The rumors of curfew being imposed in the city are false and creating misunderstanding among the people.”

The senior officer said, “I want to clarify that this order is imposed every 15 days to keep a check on people who take out rallies without permission from the police and try to disrupt law and order.” Section 144 has nothing to do with daily life. Schools, colleges, theatres, political functions and other events are not affected by such an order, he said, urging people not to spread rumors about it.
