Intelligence grid sources said security arrangements at important installations in Jammu and Kashmir have been beefed up following inputs from intelligence agencies that terrorists may kill them.

He said that additional battalions of paramilitary forces may be deployed along with the local police for tight security around these establishments and government buildings.

These inputs come amid attacks on non-Muslims in the Valley, in which 11 civilians have been killed this month.

The fresh input also warned of attacks on representatives of panchayats and block development councils to create panic among residents, including Kashmiri Pandits, who wanted to return to their properties after government persuasion.

Officials of the Jammu and Kashmir administration, on the condition of anonymity, said the killing of innocent civilians is a major setback to the government’s plan to settle them on its properties in Kashmir. Now they are going back to Jammu to stay in their camps.

Government sources also said that a special team of experienced officers from IB, RAW and NIA, who have previously worked in Kashmir, have been deployed to prevent and foil further terror attempts.

These officers are also trying to trace the terrorists by searching the old cases and history of those involved in stone pelting.

While CRPF DG Kuldeep Singh is reviewing the situation along with other security stakeholders, Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane has also visited Srinagar to review counter-insurgency operations and other preparedness of the Army.
