We thought we had seen it all when it comes to idli varieties, but this particular variant surprised us. Have you ever seen blue idli before? We believe no one did and that’s why this blue idli video on Instagram has shocked the internet.

The recipe video of Blue Idli was posted by a food blogger on Instagram page @jyotiz kitchen. Now if you are wondering what is the secret behind the attractive blue color of idlis, let us tell you that it is not an artificial colour, but organically grown blue pea flowers.

If you look carefully, you will see that the blogger is plucking blue pea flowers from her home garden. She discards the stems and leaves, cleans the flowers and boils them. The color of the flower is poured into boiling water. The water is filtered to remove the flowers and colored water is added to the idli batter. Then the blogger proceeds to make idli as usual.

The recipe video has garnered over eight lakh views and over 30k likes and hundreds of comments. some of them are:
