‘Sex/Life’ season 2 review: Sarah Shahi is back with Netflix’s best of fun

A scene from ‘Sex/Life’

oh well, second season of stacy rucksack sex / life Terrible writing (“What a small town this town is”), hot pink frames and pretty clothes, to full frontal male nudity with questionable prostheses thrown in for good measure, season one offers a bit of everything. And it’s a binge; Who doesn’t want to see beautiful humans getting hot and heavy with each other?

Remember the cliffhanger the season ended with? Suburban wife and mother of two, Billie (Sarah Shahi) turns up at affluent ex-boyfriend Brad’s (Adam Demos) loft with an offer he can’t refuse. only he did; Brad is having a baby with his new girlfriend, a glamorous posh with a British accent known as Gigi (Wallis Day).

Billie (her full name is Wilhelmina and reminds me of Enid Blyton’s Bill) Mallory Towers) is separated from her investment banker husband Cooper (Mike Vogel). Billy has moved from the family home in Connecticut to a luxurious apartment in New York and into the arms of hotelier Majid (Darius Homayoon).

season 2

Episode: 6

Running Time: 43 to 56 minutes

Producer: Stacy Rueckser

Starring: Sarah Shahi, Mike Vogel, Adam Demos, Margaret Odette, Cleo Anthony, Darius Homayun

Storyline: It’s the next stage for Billy, his friends and lovers, as they deal with the consequences of their choices in their separate ways

Cooper, (Mike Vogel) meanwhile is spiraling out of control. Taking the jump from her boss, Francesca (Lee Joon Lee) falls from bed into the arms of Trina (Amber Goldfarb). She is best friends with Trina Cooper, Devon’s (Jonathan Sadowski) wife who does nothing to curtail her libido. There’s even an Uber driver, Cooper Bede, to prove his democratic credentials. Spencer, (Dylan Bruce) Cooper’s older brother, is unhappy with his siblings’ path in life.

Billy’s best friend, Sasha, (Margaret Odette) is a successful author and wants to conquer social media with the help of super agent Mick (Craig Bierko). However, he is also at a crossroads in the form of the good doctor Kam (Cleo Anthony) having to choose between a successful single life and love. Whether she wants thousands of likes, shares and retweets or someone to share the view on top of Mount Kilimanjaro is her big question.

Based on Bibi Easton 44 Chapter 4 About Men, Sex/Life Amidst all the lip service paid to women’s rights and the feminine principle, some unintentionally thoughtful chestnut makes good on its promise of slipping. Majid’s restaurant is called Khaju – is it named after Cashew In the form of cashews or in the form of the beautiful Cashew Bridge in Isfahan, Iran? The construction of the bridge was completed in 1650 and historians have prided themselves on its beauty, calling it “the culminating monument of Persian bridge architecture”.

When Mick talks about Jesus starting with “13 followers” you are left to wonder whether he added Mary Magdalene to the 12 or replaced Judas Iscariot with Saint Matthias or whether he just didn’t know any better.

Season two wraps up with all the loose ends neatly tied up; Three marriages, a doctorate and no funeral. Logically, there shouldn’t be another season of heavy breathing and locker-room displays of dodgy prosthetics. If the powers-that-be, however, feel they can squeeze another bunch of bedroom antics out of Billy and the gang, we don’t question why.
