Shenzhen, China: China’s most populous city Shanghai Officials announced on Saturday that they have increased their weekly COVID-19 testing requirement and extended free testing till the end of September to keep the virus under control.
The official notice said citizens without a record of nucleic acid testing would be assigned a yellow code on Shanghai’s health code system within seven days. A yellow code restricts access to certain public places.
Health officials in the financial center of 25 million on Saturday said they detected one symptomatic and three asymptomatic cases the day before.
The southern province of Hainan is currently China’s worst-hit region, with 594 symptomatic cases and 832 asymptomatic cases reported 24 hours earlier on Saturday.
