Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar lashed out at New Zealand Cricket For canceling his tour of Pakistan. The New Zealand cricket team on Friday canceled its ongoing tour of Pakistan, citing security threats.
It comes hours before the start of the first ODI in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Even though the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) claimed that there was no security threat, New Zealand Cricket chief executive David White said that “the safety of players is of paramount importance” and that they were therefore calling off the tour.
Angered by the Black Caps’ decision to cancel the Pakistan tour, Akhtar accused New Zealand of killing Pakistan cricket. He reacted to this fast-paced development in a tweet with two angry emojis.

This was going to be New Zealand’s first international cricket series on Pakistani soil in 18 years. It was canceled after the guest side stayed in their hotel rooms and did not come to the stadium for security reasons.
Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has called the security alert a hoax.
On a HOAX threat you have canceled the tour despite all assurances!! @blackcaps Do you understand the implications of your decision?— Shahid Afridi (@SAfridiOfficial) September 17, 2021
The PCB alleged that New Zealand has “unilaterally” taken the decision to cancel their Pakistan tour. It said that the security officials along with the New Zealand team are satisfied with the security arrangements made by the Government of Pakistan during their stay here.
Earlier today, the New Zealand Cricket Board informed us that they had been alerted to some security alerts and have decided to unilaterally postpone the series. The PCB and the Government of Pakistan have made complete security arrangements for all the visiting teams. 1/4

Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistan cricket team, is also angry with this decision of the New Zealand Cricket Board. Newly appointed PCB chairman Rameez Raja has promised action against the New Zealand cricket team.
The sudden postponement of the series was a huge disappointment, which could have brought back smiles to millions of Pakistan cricket fans. I have full faith in the capabilities and credibility of our security agencies. They are our pride and always will be! Pakistan Zindabad! – Babar Azam (@babarazam258) September 17, 2021
It’s been a crazy day! Very sorry to the fans and our players. It is very disappointing to pull out of the tour unilaterally on a security threat. Especially when it’s not shared!! What world is NZ living in? NZ will hear us at the ICC. – Ramiz Raja (@iramizraja) September 17, 2021
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) announced in a tweet that arrangements are now being made for the team’s departure. NZC did not provide any details of the security threat to the media.
