Lucknow Municipal Corporation officials say the shops near the SP office were illegal and notices were sent to the owners
In Lucknow, the civic body on Wednesday vandalized street shops outside the Samajwadi Party office, most of them selling party propaganda material.
According to Lucknow Municipal Corporation officials, the shops on Vikramaditya Marg were illegal and their owners were sent several notices in the last six months asking them to remove the structures.
“They were given time and an announcement was made there earlier as well. On Wednesday, we demolished illegal structures with bulldozers,” said a Lucknow civic body official.
On one side of Vikramaditya Marg is the office of the Samajwadi Party and on the other side there are bungalows of railway officials.
Officials said that traffic was affected due to the shops built on the vacant lot in front of the bungalows.
