The State Human Rights Commission has sought a report from the Principal Secretary, Home Department, Tamil Nadu. suo moto cognizance of a report in Hindu On the encounter killings in the state on October 17.
The SHRC said it considered the report titled ‘Human rights bodies condemning encounter killings’ in which human rights organizations demanded that the ‘encounter’ culture should stop in the state and there should be zero tolerance for such killings. He had also urged the SHRC to intervene and investigate such killings.
The SHRC ordered notice and directed the principal secretary to file the report within six weeks.
