Sibal’s ambitious plan to bring the opposition on a single platform

Sibal on Saturday announced that he would launch a website called ‘Insaaf Ke Sipahi’ to help citizens fight against injustice and appealed to opposition chief ministers and parties to help him in this initiative.

Rajya Sabha member and former Congress leader Kapil Sibal will present his vision document on March 11 to call for opposition unity.

Sibal appealed to all opposition parties to support his endeavour.

Ahead of the 2024 general elections, Sibal is trying to carve out an independent niche in the political setup as churning is on and no political platform has yet developed to challenge the Modi-led NDA.

Many leaders in the opposition are trying to forge a new formula, be it Chandrasekhar Rao of BRS, Trinamool Congress. Mamata Banerjee Or Nitish Kumar of the Janata Dal (U). And, Sibal is now the newest member to join the club.

A senior lawyer and former Union Minister in the Manmohan Singh-led UPA, Sibal has been a troubleshooter for several political parties, fighting their cases in various courts. Some of these parties include Uddhav Shiv Sena, Samajwadi Party, RJD, JMM and many more.

This could be a wake-up call for the Congress, which had passed a resolution in Raipur on an alliance to bring together like-minded parties. But, it may take some time to formally reach out to the opposition parties.

Sibal on Saturday announced that he would launch a website called ‘Insaf Ke Sipahi’ to help citizens fight against injustice and appealed to opposition chief ministers and parties to help him in this initiative.

Addressing a press conference here, Sibal said he will also present a vision document for the country during the official launch at Jantar Mantar on March 11. He stressed that this is not a political move but a catalyst for change.

He said, “Whatever change was brought in the country, lawyers were at the forefront and now I want to ask why lawyers are silent?”

The independent MP said that lawyers should raise their voice, adding that “I want to start a movement because there is injustice everywhere in business, journalism, people and the opposition”.

He said that lawyers would stand at every corner to help the public on every issue in the country.

Sibal alleged that the elected government has been destabilized and that out of 121 ED cases, 115 are against opposition leaders.
