A Sikkim Police jawan on Monday killed three of his associates at the national capital’s Hyderpur water treatment plant in the city’s Rohini area after the deceased allegedly made derogatory remarks against his wife. Police said men were deployed at the plant by the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) to guard it.

The incident was reported to the KN Katju Marg police station.

On reaching the spot, the police said that three people of Sikkim Police were shot, out of which two died on the spot and one was seriously injured and was taken to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Medical Hospital. was transferred, where he was declared. The dead were brought in, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP-Rohini) Pranav Tayal.

The accused, identified as 32-year-old Lance Naik Prabin Rai, is from Sikkim Police’s IRB. Police said the accused had confessed to having shot his associates at the plant’s barracks around 3 pm. The deceased have been identified as Commander Pinto Namgyal Bhutia, Constable Inder Lal Chhetri and Constable Dhanhang Subba.

The DCP said the accused, who surrendered at Samaypur Badli police station during interrogation, said that the deceased “mentally tortured” him and made derogatory remarks against his wife.
