Singer Kesha reveals she damaged her vocal cords during concert in the US

American singer-songwriter Kesha has revealed that she suffered a vocal cord hemorrhage during a live performance in the United States earlier this week.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, the Grammy-winning artist shared a photo from a Taylor Hawkins tribute concert. In the caption, she explained that “In the midst of my wardrobe malfunction, I decided to distract everyone from my t*****s by singing really loud.”

“And today, I found out I bleed one of my vocal cords. Sue. I’m posting all the pics from the f***ing moment bc. It was quite a moment,” she said.

Vocal cord hemorrhage is the result of one or more blood vessels in the vocal folds breaking open, filling the vocal folds with blood and potentially forming a hemorrhagic polyp. This is not considered a serious injury and usually requires simple vocal tests.
