Siri Village Industries opens stall at Puttur Railway Station

Sri Dharmasthala Siri Village Industries Institute has recently opened its sales center at Puttur Railway Station on a pilot basis under the One Station-One Product Scheme of Indian Railways.

Railways has identified several stations in different areas under the scheme to promote local artisans and products. Local entrepreneurs including SHGs were allowed to display their products by setting up stalls at subsidized rates to promote the products.

The brainchild of Dharmasthala Pattadhikari D. Virendra Hegde, Siri Village Industries has been producing many local products including organic food items, beverages, clothes through women self-help groups. Village industries have also applied for setting up stalls at some other railway stations.
