The Delhi Assembly on Thursday passed the confidence motion moved by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The AAP chief said it has been proved that his party’s leaders “cannot be bought” and that ‘Operation Lotus’ had failed.

58 votes were cast in support of the motion. No vote was cast against the motion as none of the BJP MLAs were present during the proceedings.

The AAP had called for a special assembly session after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s house. “Operation Lotus”.

‘Operation Lotus’ failed

On 29 August, Mr Kejriwal introduced the resolution in the Assembly, saying it was meant to prove that ‘Operation Lotus’ could be successful in other states but not in Delhi.

AAP has 62 MLAs in the 70-member Delhi Assembly, while the remaining eight are from the BJP.

“The Speaker is in Canada, Naresh Balyan is in Australia, Satyendar Jain is in jail. Besides them, 59 MLAs, including the deputy speaker, are present here,” Mr Kejriwal said.

Taking a jibe at AAP, Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta said Kejriwal had called the assembly session only to divert public attention from the allegations against the government and to talk on “worldly issues”.

‘Why not discuss corruption’

Why did the Kejriwal government not discuss the burning issues of Delhi’s pollution, water, electricity, dilapidated transport system, corruption in the (now withdrawn) excise policy and construction of classrooms? Mr Gupta said.

Delhi CM also expressed the possibility of arrest of Deputy CM. Referring to the deputy CM, Kejriwal said, “After the raids, [CBI] The officials told Sisodia that they did not find anything, but they were under a lot of pressure to arrest him. Manishji said, ‘No worries. just tell me the time Whenever you want to arrest me, I will come.’”

In a veiled attack on the BJP, the AAP chief called it ” Qatar Insurance (totally corrupt)” party.

“Today, only two parties exist at the national level. have a party Qatar Imandari (steadfastly honest), the other is Qatar Insurance, All ministers, MLAs and workers are honest Qatar Imandari Celebration. And the news of corruption keeps coming every day. Qatar Insurance party,” he said.

Mr Kejriwal said that 49 AAP MLAs have been implicated in 169 cases and out of these 134 cases have been dismissed by the courts.
