Sita Navami 2022: Tithi, Muhurta Timings and Significance of Fasting

Sita Navami, also known as Janaki Navami, is celebrated to mark the birth of Goddess Sita. This occasion, according to the Hindu calendar, falls on the Navami Tithi in the lunar month of Vaishakh on the Shukla Paksha, which is May-June. One month after Ram Navami, this auspicious occasion is celebrated with great grandeur and pomp all over the country.

It is said in the scriptures that fasting and worshiping Lord Rama and Mother Sita on this day gives the fruits of pilgrimage and charity.

When will Sita Navami be celebrated this year?

This year Sita Navami is starting at 06:32 PM on Monday, 9th May and will end at 07:24 AM on Tuesday, 10th May. The timing of Puja Muhurta has been made between 11:17 am to 1:54 pm on May. 21.

worship method

As soon as the day of Sita Navami starts, take a bath and start fasting before sunrise. Bath the deity of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita in the temple and then worship them with sandalwood, incense, flowers and fruits. One should recite or listen to Sita Navami Vrat Katha during his fast, Ram-Sita Puja can also be done to please the deity.

Significance of Sita Navami Vrat

Sita Navami is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Mother Sita. According to legend, Goddess Sita was found by King Janak while plowing the field, and the goddess appeared in the field as a child.
