Noida: Six youths were arrested on Friday for allegedly snatching mobile phones of around 500 people in Sector 58 in the last two years.
youths have been identified as Sky And Adityas, both from Ghaziabad; Hapur resident Sagar; Job, a native of Meerut; Akash Pal from Madhya Pradesh and Puneet from Jewar.
According to the police, Akash, who worked in an Ayurvedic call center in Sahibabad, was their gang leader. He has a history of stealing sports bikes in Delhi-NCR along with Puneet and Ayub. These bikes were used by other gang members to snatch mobile phones, especially from women and senior citizens.
Most of these snatchings were done when people were either going to office or returning home from work, usually between 9-10 am and 5-7 pm. If someone opposed snatching, the accused used to threaten them by showing them a gun.
