The Slavia is Skoda’s second car to be built on the MQB A0 IN platform.

This powerful 1.5 liter four-cylinder engine is quite suitable for Slavia. It makes a maximum power of 148 bhp and a decent torque figure of 250 Nm and the best part is that the range is quite wide so it stays with you from 1600 to 3500 rpm, and you can really have a lot of fun in that range are while driving. It accelerates from steady to 100 kmph in around 8.8 seconds which is not bad for a car of this size and shape. Of course it is faster than the 1.0 version, but the top speed remains the same at 190 kmph. It is in the mid-range where the Slavia 1.5 is at its best, the refinement levels are up to the mark and this turbo engine shows some serious aggression and responds well to driver inputs.

Skoda claims a fuel efficiency of over 18 kmpl on the Slavia.

This 1.5-litre engine is being offered with both manual as well as automatic transmission which is also the case with the 1.0-litre car. But the big difference here is that here you get a 7-speed DSG as automatic, while the 1.0 model gets you a 6-speed torque converter. This car is mated to a 6-speed manual mild gearbox so it helps in better performance of this car. The gear shifts are good and there is a slight notch with short throw and the clutch is light. So, the overall experience of using the drivetrain on this Slavia 1.5 is quite pleasant. The steering weight is also good and it gives good feedback. The DSG also comes with a paddle shifter which is always favored by the enthusiasts.

The 1.5 turbo engine shows some serious aggression and responds well to driver inputs.

In today’s time of rising petrol prices, fuel efficiency has become more important than ever. And Skoda claims and even in the 1.5 TSI model you get a figure of over 18 kmpl on both the manual and DSG versions of the car. According to Skoda, a lot has been done to achieve that figure, one of which is the introduction of cylinder deactivation technology for the first time in the segment. What happens here is that when the engine senses that it doesn’t have enough load, and doesn’t need much performance, 2 of the 4 cylinders idle which helps to save some fuel and ensures better fuel efficiency. does.

The suspension has been fine-tuned to meet the challenges posed for this car on Indian roads.

It really impresses when it comes to handling this sedan. Of course, you’d expect a sedan to run well, but the Slavia is right there, especially with this 1.5-litre petrol engine. It’s aerodynamic shape and the way it is designed inspires a lot of confidence even at high speeds. The car takes even corners well. And there isn’t much to complain about when it comes to ride quality. The suspension has been fine-tuned to meet the challenges that this car faces on Indian roads, though it is a bit harsh at times. So overall a good combination of great handling and more than acceptable ride quality on the Slavia 1.5.

The Crystal Blue color is exclusive to the Skoda brand.

There is nothing that differentiates the 1.0 and 1.5 liter variants in terms of looks or features. The beautiful looking crystal blue color is exclusive to the Skoda brand. The 1.5 TSI is available only on the Top Style trim which has the same features as the 1.0 variant. This includes 16-inch alloy wheels and slim LED headlamps with crystalline elements. However, a clear, differentiating element on the exterior would have pleased the 1.5 model owners.

Slavia can make you fall in love with sedans all over again.

0 notes

The Slavia 1.5 is going up against the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the soon to be launched VW Vertus in the market. And looking at the prices of the Style trim of the 1.0L model, which ranges from Rs 13.59 Lakh to Rs 15.39 Lakh, the 1.5L Slavia could start from around Rs 14.5 Lakh, ex-showroom. This may make it the most expensive offering in the segment, but as we have seen with some recent cars, that strategy has worked well for Skoda. Because once you choose to buy this car, it will definitely be a pleasure for the drivers.
