SN Pradhan appointed as NCB chief till August 2024

Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Satya Narayan Pradhan has been appointed as Director General of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on deputation basis till the date of his retirement on August 31, 2024 or until further orders.

Pradhan, a 1988-batch IPS officer of Jharkhand cadre, was currently holding the additional charge of the NCB chief despite holding the charge of the Director General of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

After Rakesh Asthana was appointed as the Delhi Police Commissioner, he was given the additional charge of Director General of NCB.

Atul Karwal, a 1988-batch Gujarat cadre IPS officer, was on Tuesday appointed as the Director General of the NDRF, with the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) in a late night order appointing Pradhan as the Director General of NCB on a full-time basis.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) subsequently directed the concerned wing to appoint Satya Narayan Pradhan to the post of Director General, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on deputation basis for the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). With effect from the date of his assumption of office and till the date of his retirement on 31st August, 2024 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”

The Home Ministry also requested for immediate release of Pradhan from the post of Director General of NDRF to enable him to take up the new charge.
