Goat Cheese and Poached Pears
All-day dining restaurants have sprung up at every nook and corner of the city. I head to the one everyone’s Insta mentions – Sobermessa. Run by Uday Gotipathy and Ritika Velchala, the casual decor of the place puts me at ease instantly. While I waited for my pumpkin soup, I noticed that this pet-friendly cafe offers pets a bowl of water the moment they come in and settle down.
Mushroom Tortellinis
At Sobremesa, seating options depend on your choice of natural outdoor lighting. There is a deck for intimate parties. There is also a seating arrangement under the shade of trees and bushes. Uday and Ritika take the outside arrangements as seriously as they do the seating arrangements inside. Hence, when one walks inside the restaurant, the tables and the interior make you feel at home.
Chocolate Truffle Lamingtons
As soon as the soup arrived on my table, I turned my attention to the pumpkin soup. Creamy, sweet, and a little tangy, it doesn’t need anything else to make it complete. I could have had more but preferred to wait for the food that I ordered.
The food at Sobremesa has a distinct character. When they serve continental food, there is no option to ask to ‘make it extra spicy or deep fry it’ for the Indian version. This was followed by Chilli Barbecue Shrimp with Pineapple Salad. I forked the pineapple salad and couldn’t stop at one. So the Spicy (Not Coated) Butter-Tossed Shrimp were bliss without the salsa. Shrimp marinated in chili has a delicious sweet aftertaste.
I’m not a huge fan of sliders, but I ordered one of their signature mini-sliders anyway. Meat patty could have been juicier. However, I liked that it wasn’t bathed in mayo. Salads are fresh, crisp and substantial, with no tossed vegetables and greens. Goat Cheese and Poached Pear Salad is nutritious. A mix of nuts, seasonal crisps and a house-made vinaigrette make it delicious. In short this dish comes with a wholesome wholesome feel.
BBQ Shrimp with Pineapple Salsa
The pasta, especially the tortellinis, is a must try. I chose the mushroom tortellini. It was a delicious delight that came with generous amounts of well-roasted mushrooms.
Cold coffee connoisseurs are sure that their brew will turn out to be excellent here. They have quite a selection in flavors. So if you are a fan of cold brew, go for it. Dessert lovers will enjoy the Rose Lychee Tres Leches. This beauty comes bathed in condensed milk, it tastes pink. It’s sweet without regret. If you don’t like your desserts too sweet, try the Chocolate Coffee Lamingtons. It is one such dessert that comes with the taste of coffee and chocolate.
