Despite being considered by many as rivals, both Tendulkar and Lara always had mutual respect for each other during their playing days. On Saturday, Tendulkar shared a picture with Lara, with the caption: “Some friendships are timeless!”. In the photo, both Tendulkar and Lara can be seen wearing suits, probably for some event, with a smile on their faces.

Both Tendulkar and Lara recently participated in the second edition of the Road Safety World Series, which was won by India Legends under the leadership of the ‘Master Blaster’.

Tendulkar ended his 25-year playing career as the highest run-scorer in Tests and ODIs. The 47-year-old scored 15,921 runs in 200 Tests and 18,426 runs in 463 ODIs.

He also has the most centuries in ODIs (49) and Test cricket (51).

After retiring from the game, the 49-year-old has been associated with Mumbai Indians as a mentor.

Lara, on the other hand, holds the record for the highest individual Test score – 400 not out against England in Antigua in 2004.

The 53-year-old also scored 34 centuries in Tests and 19 tons in ODIs, scoring over 22,000 runs across all formats.

Lara is currently serving as the head coach of the Indian Premier League franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad.
