Actor Sooraj Pancholi was acquitted in the Jiah Khan case by a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Mumbai. He was accused of allegedly abetting the actress to commit suicide. Judge AS Sayed of the special CBI court in Mumbai said, “Due to lack of evidence, this court cannot hold you (Sooraj Pancholi) guilty, hence acquitted.” After getting relief after 10 years, the actor was seen offering prayers at the Divya Siddhivinayak temple.

Jiah Khan’s mother Rabia Khan rejected the prosecution’s case saying it was a case of suicide and claimed that her daughter was murdered. “I will fight till my last breath. He (Sooraj Pancholi) has been released on provocation but my daughter has been murdered. I will appeal further, I have submitted all evidence to the agency but they did nothing. “
According to the Central Bureau of Investigation, the letter seized by the Mumbai Police, which launched the probe on June 10, 2013, was written by Jiah Khan. The CBI claimed that the note allegedly spoke about her “intimate relationship, physical abuse and mental and physical torture” at the hands of Sooraj Pancholi, which led to her suicide. The case was handed over to a special CBI court in 2021 after the sessions court said so. It did not have jurisdiction over the matter as it was probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Special CBI Judge AS Sayyed had last week reserved its judgment in the matter for April 28 after hearing final arguments from both the sides. Not of murder but of suicide. “I want the truth to come out, Jiah Khan did not take her own life. We have spent 10 years uncovering the truth based on factual evidence. Now it is up to the court to draw the right conclusions.”
