‘Soren Sarkar Anti-Dalit’: BJP Calls CM On Eviction Of 50 Families By Mob, JMM Says Problem Is Being Resolved

Amid allegations of apathy of the administration towards the plight of 50 Dalit families in Palamu district, the ruling JMM on Friday said the issue was being resolved amicably. JMM chief spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya also said that land would be provided for the rehabilitation of the families.

Earlier in the day, BJP state president Deepak Prakash termed the Hemant Soren-led government as “anti-Dalit”, saying the incidents of attacks and forced evictions clearly indicate that Dabangg (pressure) of a community.

At least 50 families of Mushar community were allegedly attacked and attacked by a mob led by village head Israr Ansari a week ago from Murumatu village under Pandu police station area. He is temporarily housed in a building that previously housed a police station.

Some affected families living in the village for decades claimed that their children were abducted and left in the Loto forest of Chhatarpur police station area. So far five people have been arrested, out of which two were arrested on Friday.

Prakash, who met the families along with BJP MP Aditya Sahu, said that the houses of those “dispossessed” families have fallen to the ground, and in the process, a “shivalinga was also demolished”. Echoing a similar view, Sahu said the incident reflects the “passive approach” of the district administration.

“The local administration has now woken up, is preparing Aadhaar documents for these families, but their place of residence has been changed,” the MP claimed.

He said: “The Soren government was adopting a policy of appeasement to retain its vote bank, but the BJP will not tolerate such atrocities.”

Refuting the allegations, a JMM spokesperson said that each family was being provided with two decimal places of land and Rs 25,000 in cash for making temporary accommodation. Bhattacharya also said that the JMM is committed to ensuring the welfare of the weaker sections of the society and “the issue is being resolved amicably”.

Asked about his reaction to the saffron party’s “anti-Dalit” tag, he said, “The JMM government does not need any certificate from the BJP.” Describing the incident as “unfortunate”, he said, “As soon as the Palamu administration came to know about it, an FIR was registered in the matter and some of the accused were later arrested.” The law will take its course.”
