Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappagranddaughter of Dr. Soundarya Neerji30-year-old found hanging inside her flat in private apartment VasantnagarCentral Business District Friday morning.
Soundarya was the daughter of Yediyurappa’s elder daughter Padmavati and he married her Dr. Neerjiwith a radiologist MS Ramaiah Hospital in 2018. Soundarya had completed her post graduation in general surgery in MS Ramaiah. The doctor couple had been living on the first floor of the Legacy Apartment on Cunningham Road for the past two years.
Preliminary investigation revealed that it was a case of suicide. Soundarya hanged herself from her bedroom fan using a veil. Her nine-month-old baby was sleeping in another room. Police said that they have not found any death note from the spot.
The incident came to light around 10.30 am when the maid and the nanny repeatedly knocked on the bedroom door and after getting no response, informed the security personnel of the apartment. After unsuccessfully trying to break the door, the security personnel went to the balcony of the adjoining bedroom and peeped through the window.
Nani immediately called Doctor Neeraj, who left home for the hospital at around 8.30 am. Before reaching Neeraj’s flat, security guards and others had broken open the door and were preparing to shift Soundarya to a nearby private hospital. At the private hospital, after doctors made some attempts to revive her breath, Soundarya was declared dead and the body was shifted to Boring Hospital for post-mortem.
Later in the day, the body was taken to Dr Neeraj’s farm house in Abbigare, the northern part of the city, where the last rites were performed.

Modi calls Yeddyurappa, condoles granddaughter’s death
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and consoled him on his loss.
Family sources said the PM consoled Yeddyurappa on his loss and asked him not to lose strength in this difficult time.
