Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli reconcile after ‘no handshake’ controversy

Three weeks ago, attention was diverted from Royal Challengers Bangalore’s impressive win over Delhi Capitals during an IPL 2023 match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, with two viral videos featuring former RCB skipper Virat Kohli and DC cricket Sourav Ganguly.

In one video, Kohli was seen staring at Ganguly in the dugout during the match, while in another video, Ganguly left the line to avoid shaking hands with Kohli.

However, after the RCB-DC match in Delhi on Saturday, the two were seen getting engaged in a gesture that suggests they may have sorted out their differences. The gesture has since gone viral on the internet.

It is well known that there has been a rift between Kohli and Ganguly for some time now. The conflict began in 2021 when Kohli resigned as T20 captain and was later dropped as ODI captain, leading to a war of words between him and the BCCI administration, which was headed by Ganguly.

Kohli later stepped down as Test captain in January 2022.

Although there were no further reports of tension between Kohli and Ganguly, the incident in the IPL 2023 match at Chinnaswamy suggested that their relationship was still strained. This was confirmed when both unfollowed each other. Instagram,

The anticipated rematch between Kohli and Ganguly did not happen in the RCB-DC match on Saturday as the two Indian cricket icons appeared to reconcile.

Instead of continuing their rumored feud, they surprised fans by shaking hands after DC’s seven-wicket win at their home ground. The event was notable because it signaled a possible end to tensions between the two that had been simmering for some time.

Kohli, along with Ganguly, was involved in an unpleasant incident during RCB’s game against Lucknow where he had a heated argument with LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir and player Naveen-ul-Haq.

BCCI Kohli and Gambhir were fined 100% of their match fees, while Naveen had to pay 50% of his fee.
