SP as Home Minister Amit Shah shares stage with Minister of State Ajay Mishra at Police event in Lucknow

The Samajwadi Party took a jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party after Union Home Minister Amit Shah shared the stage with his Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni, whose son is the main accused in the case. Lakhimpur Kheri scandal, on the day of the opening of Alli India DGP in Lucknow on Friday.

SP spokesperson and MLC Sunil Singh Sajan hit out at Shah in a tweet, saying, “Amit Shah, who can see criminals with binoculars, shared the stage with his ‘father’ at the DG conference in Lucknow. Home Minister is sharing the stage with the father of a criminal, so what is the point of police in front of criminals and why such DG conference is needed, Modi ji?

Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish is the prime accused in the Lakhimpur case, where farmers were crushed under vehicles. Ashish is currently in jail along with his associates. The opposition parties are demanding the removal of the Union Minister of State for a fair investigation into the matter.

Earlier on Saturday, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi had also written a letter to PM Modi asking him not to share the stage with Ajay Mishra and reiterated his demand to remove him from his post to ensure fair investigation of the families of farmers.

He said, ‘You are the Prime Minister of the country and you must be understanding your responsibility towards the farmers very well. While addressing the nation yesterday, you had said that you are repealing laws in the interest of farmers with true intention and pure heart. If all this is true then you should ensure justice for the families of the deceased farmers in Lakhimpur. However, Ajay Mishra Teni will continue to be a minister in your government. If you share the stage with them at the DGP conference then a message will go to the families of the victims that you stand with those who rescued the killers,” Gandhi wrote in his letter.

“It will also be an insult to the 700 farmers who lost their lives during the farmers’ protest,” he said.

“If your intention towards the farmers of the country is pure, then do not share the stage with the Union Minister of State and instead remove him from his post. You should also withdraw the cases against the farmers of the country and ensure financial assistance for the martyr farmers,” Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said in her letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
