Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday took a jibe at Samajwadi Party leader Dimple Yadav, saying her remarks linking the color of war to saffron clothes was an insult to Sanatan Dharma and saints.

Yadav, at a rally in Sirathu, had said that the BJP’s double-engined government has been rusted and Adityanath wears clothes matching the color of the rust. Sharing a video clip of his speech during a rally, Adityanath said that he is a “Bhagavadhari”, which is his identity. “Yesterday, you have heard the remarks of some SP people. The remarks were an insult to Srijan, Sanatan Dharma and seer. He had associated saffron with the color of rust. But, I can say that I am a ‘Bhagavadhari’.”

Every resident of Uttar Pradesh will say that we are ‘Bhagavadhari’. They would say because saffron is the color of energy. When the sun rises, the color of Lord Sun is saffron. Not only this, Swami Vivekananda proudly said that we are Hindus. His lehenga was also saffron. We are a god because that is our identity.”
