Spain beat Germany 1-0 as Colombia beat Nigeria 6-5 to set up the summit clash of the FIFA Women’s Under-17 World Cup

Defending champions Spain beat Germany with a lone goal in a close match on Wednesday to set up a summit clash against Colombia in the FIFA Women’s Under-17s World cup.

The lone goal of the match was scored by Lucia Corales in the 90th minute at the Nehru Stadium here. The final will be played on Sunday at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Spain thus avenged their defeat at the same opponents in the European qualifying tournament on a penalty shootout in May. Spain had defeated Mexico 2-1 in the final of the 2018 edition. He was runner-up for Japan in 2014 and finished third in 2010 and 2016.

In the first semi-final played at the same venue, Colombia defeated Nigeria 6–5 via a dramatic penalty shootout to become the first South American country to make it to the final of the age-group showpiece.

Both sides were closed goalless at the end of regulation time.

Gabriela Rodriguez, Stefania Perlaza, Marie Espitaleta, Linda Cassado, Juana Ortegon and Natalia Hernandez scored for Colombia while Munoz missed the shootout.

It was heartbreaking for Nigeria as they were on the verge of victory in the shootout.

At 4-4, Adafe could have given her side the win as she had her last shot in the first five, but she hit the post to continue the shootout.

Adet Offiang, Edidiong Etim, Miracle Usani, Taiwo Afolabi and Shakirat Oyenlola scored for the African team.
