The deeply rich familiar voice that has inspired singers around the world and shakes millions of hearts reverberates in the room where preparations for the album’s launch are underway. Many superhit songs of SPB immediately come to mind. The 30-minute long album ‘Vishwaroopa Darisanam’ recorded by SP Balasubramaniam before his demise is his farewell gift to music lovers. The Bhakti Album (Symphony Recording) explores Krishna’s conversation with Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. The song is written by Gurunadha Sithar and composed by KS Raghunathan.

Symphony CEO Rajesh Dhupad had been working on the idea since 2017. “Krishna reveals his vast form, saying that the whole world is in him and the world is in him. There are three chapters dedicated to this in the Bhagavad Gita. I wanted the song to capture the essence of this philosophy,” says Rajesh. Before Gurunadha Sitar read lessons in different languages. After four months, he came up with Pallavi ‘Aiyaram Aiyaram’.

“I wanted the lyrics to be simple, but at the same time evoke emotion,” says Rajesh.

It is set to tune by KS Raghunathan, who has worked with stalwarts of the music industry. Raghunathan made sure that the music conveyed the spirit of the composition.

After this the search for the singer started. “Since Raghunathan usually works with Carnatic artistes, I did not initially think of SPB. But after six months of searching, I thought he would be the perfect fit for the project.

Then the composition was slightly modified to suit his singing style. “SPB can make even the toughest creation easy and light. That was his biggest plus point,” says Rajesh.

The pandemic broke out soon after work began on the project, and it had to be stopped. “As the lockdown extended, I got worried about finishing the recording. We decided to record the song without music at his house. And on July 18, 2020, we successfully recorded it. As expected, the versatile singer perfectly embodied the classical and devotional taste in the composition. It was the most enjoyable experience.”

Various instruments like keyboard, flute, tabla and chenda have been used based on the nine ragas. The songs have been mixed in surround sound to give the listeners the full feel of the magical voice of SPB.

Sameer Seth of Dolby Laboratories says, “This is Dolby’s first non-film album in South India.

The album, which was released on June 1, is available on all streaming platforms, and is available in Dolby Atmos Sound at Apple Music and Hungama Music.
