Special counter to help property owners pay taxes

From Tuesday, the Greater Chennai Corporation will set up special counters for aspects related to property tax revision in all areas to help residents. The civic body has asked property owners to pay the tax before September 30 to avoid penalty charges.

The corporation has sent wealth tax revision notices to 11.58 lakh assessees in the city. 5.75 lakh taxpayers have paid 472 crore property tax. Corporation requests residents to check property tax amendment bit.ly/govtverification

Property owners who have linked their mobile number with their property tax details can check tax calculation details online. To check the tax computation details, the assessee can enter either his registered mobile number or the new bill number as provided in notice 1. The tax demand for each street has been shared online.

The total area of ​​the property under different categories can be used to calculate the tax. More than six lakh taxpayers in the city are yet to pay the tax.

Property owners have been requested to pay tax online using mobile app by scanning QR code in revision notice or in other mode. They can call the helpline 1913 for any assistance in this regard.
