‘Special gift’: Yuvraj Singh announces NFT collection on his 40th birthday

With the craze for non-fungible tokens reaching a new high, former cricketer Yuvraj Singh has become the latest celebrity to join the NFT (fungible token) bandwagon. And, what better way to announce it than with your birthday.

The former India all-rounder took to Twitter to share the big news to his fans on his birthday today. Yuvraj Singh said that he is launching Yuvraj Singh NFT Collection in association with Collexion, a digital collection marketplace for premium NFTs.

“From Ball 1 until I decided to hang up my jersey, the fans have always been with me. Thank you for cheering on my highs and giving me strength in my lows. I’m proud to announce this on my birthday A special gift to U-Yuvraj Singh NFT Collection in partnership with @colexionNFT,” tweeted Yuvraj.

Yuvraj Singh NFT Collection will be officially launched on 25th December. In a promotional video, Yuvraj can be seen saying the NFT is “in the present”. “So, I have decided to give a big gift to my fans. I am going to make a huge NFT collection for them,” he said.

In October, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar had joined the non-fungible token (NFT) bandwagon with his collection of historic moments as a cricketer.

In some of these, Gavaskar became the first player to score 10,000 runs when he scored 774 runs in a single Test series and held the record for the highest number of Test centuries (34) for many years. The collection was designed and curated by NFTE, a London-based NFT specialist.

In recent times many cricket players have come up with their NFT collections.

What are NFTs?

A non-fungible token (NFT) is a cryptographic token, which has a unique value and characteristic. These properties set NFTs apart from other collections. It’s akin to buying a unique work of art, or a collectible antique. Due to their unique properties, NFTs generate value in the form of tokens or digital assets.
