special | Kajol’s stylist defends black and white dress, trolled actress for ‘She rocked the look’

Kajol, who recently walked the red carpet in a Jean-Louis Sabaji black and white ensemble at an award function in Dubai, got trolled for her look on social media. Trolling is nothing new for celebrities, but celebrity stylist Aastha Sharma, who styled Kajol for the event, defends the actress and says that trolls are more fun than annoying, and that outfits are imaginative. It was done for Kajol.

Be it the elaborate silhouette, thigh-high slit or the actors wearing it, the trolls had a field day of ensembles in the form of ‘bike cover’, ‘Halloween costume’, ‘sheet’ among other things. When asked what she thinks about trolling, she said, “I haven’t read the comments where she was trolled. To be honest, all the people I’ve spoken to, I love it.” Have given feedback. Kajol really did amazing. When I saw this outfit, I imagined Kajol and she sported it with so much confidence. It was totally effortless, and it wasn’t like I gave her anything else She was uncomfortable in it.”

Aastha, who is all praise for designer Jean-Louis Sabaji, expressed that she wanted to do something different with Kajol’s look for the event. “I wanted to do something different and Kajol and I are working together after a very long time. So, we wanted to do something classic as she can gracefully carry a saree or a gown. We wanted to go with something that was chic and statement. It was a challenging outfit to wear, but since she (Kajol) has such a strong personality, she pulled it off really well,” she says.

Celebrities being trolled for their looks is something that faith is accustomed to. “Trolling is always there, it’s something you can’t avoid. This is nothing new, and it has been happening for years,” says Aastha, “Such people have no fashion education, and they don’t know what the trends are. They are just sitting at home and writing without thinking.”

Aastha, who has styled celebrities like Aishwarya Rai, Disha Patani, Rakul Preet Singh for shoots and red carpets, believes that trolls have always been present in the fashion world. She recalls, “I have dressed many celebrities and I remember once someone commented ‘she looks like an umbrella’. It doesn’t matter if it is a saree or anything.. .They will still say ‘hey so simple sari hai why did she wear saree, she always wears saree. They will eventually sit and troll. So, trolls and critical feedback comes from everywhere, it all depends on whether How do you take it?”

However, Aastha, who also runs a styling company Wardrobeist, understands that not all criticism is trolling. She shares, “I think if a fashion blog that understands fashion, understands style, they write something, I’ll look at that and maybe look at it like ‘I’ll do it in a different way’ Or give it to him in a different way. Shoe’.”

Choosing outfits for celebrities and zeroing in on an outfit is always a mutual decision. “I understand that sometimes the costumes don’t work and sometimes it totally works. However, this was my best choice for Kajol’s outfit and we didn’t try any other outfit as we were very confident about it and she rocked it,” says Aastha Sharma.
