Special public prosecutors appointed for the case filed a memorandum seeking time from the court for the police to complete their investigation.
The Nilgiris District Police has constituted a special team to continue its investigation in the Kodanad dacoity-cum-murder case.
Officials said the team will be headed by an ADSP rank officer to confirm the new information that has emerged in the case. The special team is expected to verify and cross-check the information provided by some of the key accused in the case, Whom has been questioned by the district police once again recently..
On Thursday, the matter came up for hearing in the District Sessions Court, Udhagamandalam. Three witnesses, including the manager of the Kodanad estate as well as an engineer from Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO), were expected to appear as witnesses. However, as the summons did not reach the three men, they did not appear in the court on Thursday.

District Judge-cum-Chief Judicial Magistrate, Udhagamandalam, C. Sanjay Baba fixed the next hearing in the matter for October 1. He gave the police time to complete their investigation.
Eight out of ten accused did not appear in court on Thursday. Two accused KV Sayan and “Walayar” Manoj were present.
Earlier, KVSyan had requested Nilgiri District Police for police protection as he was facing threat to his life. Sources confirmed that Mr. Sion has been provided security by the district police.
