Nature is a gift that keeps on giving. Now, thanks to the Internet, we have the opportunity to explore aspects of our environment, flora and fauna that we might not otherwise be exposed to. The latest one in the list of such popular nature posts is an image of a snow leopard that has left social media users stunned.
A photo shared on Instagram by US-based photographer Kittia Pawlowski shows a snow leopard perched atop an “area of ice peaks called Phantom Alley” in Nepal’s Khumbu Glacier. In the caption, Ms Pawlowski said she was able to catch “one of the world’s elusive animals – the snow leopard” after walking about 165.7 km.

In a separate post, Ms Pavlovsky also shared stunning photos of snow leopards in the shadow of Mount Everest and Mount Pumori. In the caption, she said that she was successful in catching the wild cat from a height of about 18,000 feet in the Gorkshep area near Everest Base Camp.
“After backpacking through Earth’s most forbidding terrain, lung-starving heights, soaring peaks and towering deserts – this was the most difficult and rewarding set of photos I’ve ever taken,” she wrote.
Since being shared, her photos have gone viral on the internet, with publications such as Animal Planet and government organizations such as the US Embassy in Nepal re-sharing them. In the comments section, internet users called her images “breathtaking” and “fantastic”.
“Such a wonderful capture… Wow!” One user wrote. “Now that’s an impressive job kitty! It must have been very hard to track her down but you showed the result, AMAZING!!!” Said another.
A third commented, “It’s just amazing. Never imagined this beautiful animal roaming around the gourdash area.” “All your sacrifices where totally worth it..! Excellent capture,” added the fourth.
