This is a spoiler-free review of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

In the past two decades since Tobey Maguire first donned the red and blue outfit, we’ve had eight live-action Spider-Man movies make Peter Parker one of the coolest superheroes around. Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man turns 20 next year and it reminds us of how long cinema has been associated with the webslinger of New York’s friendly neighborhood.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is a movie that’s made for a lot. It is the third film in the MCU trilogy of Spider-Man films directed by Jon Watts, which concludes a story for Tom Holland’s incarnation of Peter Parker. It is a direct sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home, where the cliff hanger credits scene from the 2019 film is lifted. It is a continuation of the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe and its “Phase Four” story arc. And to put it simply, it’s a tribute to the last 20 years of the Spider-Man movies.

The story begins with Parker’s identity being revealed. He turns to his fellow Avenger Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and asks for her help. But things don’t go according to plan. Cracks of Magic opens the multiverse and takes out the villains from Sony’s last five Spider-Man films spanning nearly two decades: The Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe, reprising his role from Spider-Man), Doctor OK (Alfred Molina) , Spider-Man 2), Sandman (Thomas Hayden Church, Spider-Man 3), Lizard (Rice Ifan, The Amazing Spider-Man), and Electro (Jamie Foxx, The Amazing Spider-Man 2).

Spider-Man: No Way Home is a really good movie. Not only is a good superhero movie because it’s one of the best ever in the genre, but Hollywood is a wonderful bit of Christmas cinema. It is a classically entertaining film, with filmmaker John Watts putting the action/emotion on the screen with some of the mainstream storytellers and using some of the best VFX to give the audience moments of celluloid delight. The best part is that Tom Holland plays the superhero perfectly. He brings the right amount of emotion between the meta-moments and anchors the film.

Comic-book lovers will be surprised to see this film. But even for someone who has never read a comic book, it is a truly enjoyable experience, a tremendous popcorn flick with humour, action, romance, some amazing VFX and one thing that separates a good film: a good story. . A special mention of action sequences which will ensure that at no point the audience will be able to take their eyes off the screen. The final act is of epic proportions, something we’ve only seen in ‘Avenger’ movies.

Spiderman’s uncle Ben once told him, ‘With great power comes great responsibility,’ which became an iconic dialogue and somehow it fits perfectly into this film. Gear up as Spider-Man: No Way Home is not only a thrilling, thrilling ride, but also a celebration of the Spidey fandom. A thrilling adventure and an emotionally thrilling drama this is definitely going to take you in the right direction. When I saw it, there were some voices of joy and some tears among the audience. This is the perfect movie for the family on the go this holiday season

Note: Stay tuned all the way through the credits for two additional scenes, which are possibly the longest post-movie scenes in an MCU unit and definitely made your jaws drop.
