In a sudden turn of events, a poorly performing team has turned the tables. Sri Lanka beat Australia 3-1 in the series. At a time where the island nation is grappling with extreme issues such as the economic crisis, they had a breath of fresh air as the Sri Lankan Tigers sealed the ODI series in their favor against the mighty Aussies. Courtesy of Matthew Kuhneman’s valor, a game that lasted till the last ball gave Sri Lankans many reasons to celebrate.

Sri Lanka had set a score of 258 for the Aussies, which was not enough considering the batting lineup at their disposal. Defending the target was a daunting task for Captain Shanaka and his troops, but they were brilliant with their game plans as they never let the Aussies back into the game. Despite wickets falling from the other end, David Warner continued his valor and tried to get the Aussies out of trouble, but to his misfortune, he was dismissed for 99 by Dahananjaya de Silva. After winning the series, Australia will now try to reduce the margin of defeat.

Charith Aslanka took Sri Lanka out of trouble as he smashed 110 off 106 balls with his teammate Dhananjay De Silva Who scored 60 runs in 61 balls for Sri Lanka. Aslanka acknowledged his knock and said, “It was a tough question against such a quality attack and we are glad we came through. I went inside with us scoring three runs in 10 overs.” Special credit to Dhananjaya de Silva, who took the pressure off me with his batting. This is Sri Lanka’s first bilateral series win against Australia since 2010 and their first bilateral series win at home against Australia since 1992. .
