Sri Lankan passengers offloaded on domestic arrival at Bengaluru airport

In a significant security lapse at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru, 30 passengers from Colombo were mistakenly dropped off at the domestic arrival gate on Friday.

According to a spokesperson of BIAL (Bengaluru International Airport Limited), the passengers who were dropped at the domestic arrival bus gate instead of the international arrival bus gate at Bengaluru airport traveled on Sri Lankan Airlines UL 173 flight.

BIAL spokesperson said, “On March 17, 30 passengers traveling on Sri Lankan Airlines UL 173 were mistakenly dropped at the domestic arrival bus gate of BLR airport instead of the international arrival bus gate. I entered.”

However, the Terminal Operations team reached the spot, where the CISF and Immigration were informed about the accident.

BIAL spokesperson said, “The terminal operations team along with CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) and immigration were alerted and the passengers were immediately taken to the international arrivals for immigration. Passengers were then taken to the international baggage claim area.” gone.”

BIAL further stated that a human error was responsible for the situation at the airport which ultimately led to the confusion. However, corrective measures are being taken.
