St. Xavier’s University will give the title of Delete to Mamta

St. Xavier’s University in Kolkata will confer an honorary degree on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her contribution to higher education in the state (PTI File).

Vice-Chancellor Father Felix Raj told PTI that the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has approved the university’s proposal to confer the degree (Doctor of Letters) on him at the annual convocation on February 6 next year.

Vice-Chancellor Father Felix Raj told PTI that the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has approved the university’s proposal to confer the degree (Doctor of Letters) on him at the annual convocation on February 6 next year.

We got his official approval. Also, he himself announced this in the state assembly on Friday. We would like to award him an Honorary D.L.D. for his role in the spread of higher education.

He also said that the university wanted to honor him as he had helped a lot in setting up the institute in 2017.

The private university was established in New Town near Kolkata on the land given during the TMC government.

In January 2018, the state-run Calcutta University awarded an honorary doctorate to the chief minister for his social service.
