Members of Tamizhaga Karumbu Urpathiyalargal Sangam (Tamil Nadu Sugarcane Farmers’ Association) staged a sit-in protest near the Government Arignar Anna Sugar Mill, Kurunkulam on Saturday in support of their demands.
The protesters raised slogans demanding immediate implementation of the election promise of Rs 4000 per tonne cane purchase price and speedy distribution of over Rs 21 crore for sugarcane supplied by farmers to the government-run Arignar Anna Sugar Mills for the year 2021. -22.
He also called upon the state government to ensure that dues are cleared along with the Rs 195 per tonne incentive announced in last year’s budget.
