Startup 20 Engagement Group’s two-day installation kicks off in Hyderabad

The two-day founding meeting of the Startup 20 Engagement Group, set up under India’s G20 chairmanship, began in Hyderabad on Saturday. G-20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant, Startup-20 President Chintan Vaishnav, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade Secretary Anurag Jain and G-20 Secretariat JS Ashish Sinha JS were present in the meeting.

The inaugural meeting of the Startup 20 Engagement Group was attended by 180 delegates from G-20 member states and stakeholders apart from nine special invitees. Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal also addressed the delegates through a video message.

During the inaugural session of the meeting Union Minister for Tourism, Culture and Development of North Eastern Region G Kishan Reddy said, “Today, India has the third largest number of startups in the world. Our youth want to be job creators rather than job holders.”

Talking about the startup ecosystem, G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant said, “Today’s startups are solving problems like education, health, agricultural productivity, etc. for a billion people in India and the world.”

“Earlier, it used to take 8-9 months to open a bank account in India, whereas today it is possible within a minute using biometrics. For the last four years, we pay faster than the US, Europe and China.

The new engagement group – Startup20, which was set up as part of India’s G20 Presidency, aims to support startups and engage startups, corporates, investors, innovation agencies and other key ecosystem stakeholders, said an official release. Aspires to create a global narrative to enable synergy.

The objective of this group is to provide a common platform for start-ups from G20 member countries to come together so as enablers to build capabilities, identify funding gaps, increase employment opportunities, achieve SDG goals and climate resilience. so that actionable guidance can be developed. , and the development of an inclusive ecosystem, it said.
